Terms and conditions

Last updated: November 2026. Please read these together with the Community rules.

1. About KonnectRuaka. KonnectRuaka is a free neighbourhood noticeboard for Ruaka and nearby areas. We connect people. We are not a party to any deal between users.
2. Your account. Use a real email address and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens on your account. You must be 18 or older to post.
3. What you post. Posts, photos, videos and comments must be true, lawful and yours to share. Do not post other people's photos or private details without their permission.
4. No guarantees. We do not check or guarantee listings, businesses, prices, items or events. Always verify for yourself. Never pay a deposit, rent or any money before you have seen the property or item and met the person in a safe, public place.
5. Prohibited. Scams, fake or misleading listings, hate speech, tribal or ethnic profiling, harassment, adult content, illegal items or services, spam, and political campaigning.
6. Moderation. Posts are reviewed before most of them appear. We may edit, hide or remove any post or comment, and suspend accounts, at our discretion and without notice.
7. Editing posts. You can edit a post while it waits for approval. Once approved, a post cannot be changed, except its availability status.
8. Your content. You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you allow KonnectRuaka to display it on the site and in shares you or others make.
9. Feedback and reactions. Ratings and comments are opinions of the people who give them, not of KonnectRuaka. Do not post false or defamatory statements.
10. Privacy. We collect your email and the content you post to run the site. Phone numbers and WhatsApp links you add are shown to signed-in visitors. We handle personal data in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019. You can ask us to delete your account and posts.
11. Liability. To the extent the law allows, KonnectRuaka is not responsible for losses, disputes or harm arising from listings, meetings or transactions between users, or from the site being unavailable.
12. Changes. We may update these terms. Continuing to use the site means you accept the updated terms.

Community rules

1. Be respectful. No hate speech, tribal or ethnic profiling, or harassment.
2. Post genuine listings only. Fake houses, fake offers and scams are removed.
3. Never pay a deposit or rent before you have seen the place and met the owner.
4. Use your own photos, and keep prices and contacts accurate.
5. No adult content, political campaigning or illegal items.
6. Use Report if something looks wrong. The admin may remove posts and block repeat offenders.
